altHi there, thanks so much for visiting my site, you are very welcome!

I'm on the look out for some pregnant volunteers who would be interested in helping us out with a new project.

I am working in partnership with Helen Sanderson Associates to develop a new kind of ante natal education course which aims to be more 'personalised', rather that the one size fits all that is currently offered by most NHS providers.

The course would cover all the information needed to prepare for labour, birth and the early weeks. But it will also include involving parents-to-be in developing and using  'person centred thinking' tools. These tool are designed to support people in thinking about the impact childbearing will have on them as individuals including, identifying what kind of support they might need to make the the experience as positive as possible, and what they need to do to get that support. The whole purpose is to ensure that participants maintain as much control as possible over their own birthing experience.

The course is 5 weeks long with a post natal reunion, is of course free of charge and will be held locally in the Tameside/Glossop/Stockport area.

Throughout the course we will be collecting stories from the participants of their thoughts and experiences of the new format, which will be used in a blog and then hopefully in a book.

This is a really exciting project that has the potential to improve ante natal education services enormously.  If you or anyone you know is pregnant and might be willing to get involved  then please get in touch and I will be happy to give you more details.

I look forward to hearing from you.
